When children look at a truck from a completely new perspective

On June 10, together with FrauenForumPlus Altishofen, we welcomed a total of 31 children aged 6 to 13 to a special afternoon with us. The focus was on a topic that is particularly important to us as a transport company: the safety of children in road traffic.

The children from Altishofen come into contact with our vehicles every day - whether on their way to school, in their free time or when they are out and about with their parents. This is precisely why we see it as our responsibility to make children aware of potential dangers at an early stage and to minimize risks as much as possible.

At the beginning of their visit, the children put together their own "Zvieri-Säckli" on a picking trolley. They were able to demonstrate their dexterity and gain their first impressions of the company Galliker in a child-friendly way.

Afterwards, the focus was on the topic of "blind spots". Together with our driving instructors and an apprentice road transport specialist, the children were able to playfully discover how restricted a driver's vision can be in certain situations. In a little game of hide-and-seek around the truck, the children switched between the driver's cab and the vehicle's surroundings and experienced impressively how quickly people can disappear from a driver's field of vision. In this way, the topic was not only explained, but made directly tangible.

With the help of practical examples and age-appropriate explanations, the children were shown why it is so important to maintain sufficient safety distances around large vehicles and how they should behave in such situations. The children were able to apply what they had learned directly on site and thus develop a better sense of the dangers in road traffic.

Another highlight of the afternoon was the opportunity to take a seat behind the wheel themselves. Under the guidance of our driving instructors, the children were able to drive both a car and a truck and experience their first driving moments. This allowed them to get to know the vehicles from a completely new perspective in a fascinating way.

The combination of experiencing, understanding and trying things out made this afternoon an unforgettable experience. We hope that the children will remember the safety-relevant insights for a long time to come and that they will help them to better recognize dangers in road traffic and be safer on the road.
