As a founding member of the Swiss H2 Mobility Association www.h2mobilitaet.ch, the company Galliker is one of the honorees. Together with Hydrospider www.hydrospider.ch and Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility www.hyundai-hm.com, the association is establishing a hydrogen ecosystem for emission-free mobility that is unique in Europe. By 2025, 1,600 fuel cell electric commercial vehicles from Hyundai will be on Swiss roads.
With its zero-emission hydrogen cycle, the private-sector initiative is making a significant contribution to the decarbonization of heavy goods transport. This is because the green hydrogen is produced exclusively with the help of electricity from renewable energies (water, sun, wind) - and is therefore completely climate-friendly.
The greenhouse gas emissions caused by heavy goods vehicles are greatly reduced: With a distance covered of around 80,000 km per year, a fuel cell electric commercial vehicle saves 70-75 tons of CO2 annually.
At the beginning of October 2020, the first Xcient Fuel Cell Trucks from Hyundai were delivered to members of the Swiss H2 Mobility Association. So far, hydrogen filling stations have been opened in Hunzenschwil, St. Gallen and Zofingen, and another five are currently being planned or will soon be put into operation.
The aim of the Swiss H2 Mobility Association is to establish a nationwide network of hydrogen filling stations in Switzerland. In addition to the energy companies involved, 14 transportation companies are currently members of the association. In a joint symbiosis, the hydrogen ecosystem for emission-free mobility is to be further expanded and successfully operated autonomously without federal support.
