In collaboration with CombiFuel Swiss AG (CFS), Galliker launched a joint project in May 2021, which is currently at an advanced stage of development and has made significant progress to date.

The aim was to retrofit a truck with a conventional diesel engine to a lower-emission liquid gas-based engine. The vehicle chosen was a Volvo FH-420 articulated lorry. The CombiFuel® retrofit kit achieves emission reductions of up to 40% by partially replacing diesel with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG/autogas).

The project is currently in the pilot phase and further development of the system is underway. Test drives were carried out under regular everyday conditions with a view to planned series production. The vehicle was returned to the CFS development workshop at the end of December 2021 in order to analyze and evaluate the test operation. Further adjustments and optimizations are currently being made to the retrofit system.

However, the CombiFuel® retrofit kit is also continuing to develop in parallel: the numerous findings from this project have been used to work on the further development of the retrofit system, which means that other truck models from various manufacturers can also be retrofitted in the future.
