Modern vehicle technology

We have set ourselves the ambitious goal of reducing our CO₂ emissions by at least 5% annually and are focusing on the innovation of the latest vehicle generations and thus on future-oriented, environmentally friendly systems when modernizing our vehicle fleet.

Into the future with hydrogen

Swiss premiere 2020: With the first CO₂-neutral hydrogen 36-tonne trailer from Hyundai, we have set a strong example for the future of sustainable mobility. As a pioneer in the industry, we were the first in Switzerland to put such a vehicle into operation – emission-free on the road and a milestone towards climate-friendly logistics. Our fleet currently comprises six hydrogen trucks.

Electric power in the 40-tonne class

in 2021, we celebrated a world premiere: the first fully electric 40-tonne tractor unit hit the road with us – equipped with an impressive battery capacity of 900 kWh and a range of around 500 kilometers. This proves that sustainable heavy-duty transportation is already a reality today. The vehicle is complemented by a refrigerated trailer with a fully electronically operated refrigeration unit.

The first all-electric car transporter

we made history again in 2022: With the world's first fully electric car transporter, we are setting another milestone on our way to CO₂-neutral logistics. The vehicle has a total output of 680 hp, a battery capacity of 900 kWh and a range of 500 kilometers – powerful enough to reliably deliver new cars throughout Switzerland. We officially added the innovative van to our fleet on March 8, 2022.

Networked and sustainable logistics

We have electric charging stations at all our national Galliker locations for our fleet of electric vehicles, which are used for regional fine distribution.

International e-mobility network

The distribution of goods via our network of decentralized branches allows us to bundle the flow of goods more efficiently. This results in a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions for deliveries to peripheral regions and cities (city logistics). The electric charging stations at our international locations in Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Portugal enable local CO₂-neutral distribution with electric trucks.

Use of HVO diesel

Since 2022, we have been using HVO diesel to fuel our commercial vehicles with combustion engines (HVO: hydrotreated vegetable oil). Overall, HVO burns much cleaner than fossil diesel. The fuel is produced from vegetable waste and therefore from renewable raw materials - the CO₂ that is released during combustion was therefore already included in the cultivation of the vegetable oils. This means that fossil diesel can be optimally substituted.

Road and rail cleverly combined

The road-rail combination enables savings of around 1,500,000 liters of diesel per year. In 2024, this corresponded to a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 2,490 tons and 11,519 truck journeys. In addition to ecological efficiency, this also offers advantages that increase customer benefits: For example, night-time rail transportation enables 24-hour collection and delivery. Traffic jams are avoided and the effects of fuel price variability are largely reduced.
